Welcome December

WELCOME TO DECEMBER! This really is “the most wonderful time of the year.” It also may be “the most busy time of the year.” I am going to list some (not all) of the things that will be happening at Westside in the next few weeks. As I do, please do not allow the “busyness” to distract you from what the “season” is all about; in a word, JESUS!

THIS IS THE WEEK OF PRAYER for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. There is a prayer guide in your bulletin today and I encourage you to read about and pray for a different missionary every day. We will be receiving the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering every Sunday in December. Our goal is to give $27,500 that will go to support over 5,000 Southern Baptist International Missionaries. While you are praying this week, ask the Lord how much He would have you give. Please give generously!

THE JACKSONVILLE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION is next weekend! There will be three performances of the JCC: Friday, December 8, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, December 9, at 6 p.m.; Sunday, December 10, at 6 p.m. Please go by the table in the Mall and pick up some information about the JCC that you can share with people you meet. Many people are looking for something “festive” to do for Christmas, and the JCC is just the ticket (and it is FREE). Here’s an idea: come to each performance and bring a different guest with you each time!

CHRISTMAS EVE AND NEW YEAR’S EVE fall on Sunday this year. On Christmas Eve, we will only have our Morning Worship Service at 10:45 a.m. There will be childcare for preschoolers. On New Year’s Eve, we will have Connection Groups at 9:30 a.m. and Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m. There will be no evening services on either day. Both days are going to be glorious, so do your very best to be here!

FINALLY, WE WILL DECORATE THE WORSHIP CENTER with poinsettias on December 17 and 24. If you would like to give a poinsettia in honor or in memory of someone, please use the poinsettia envelope provided on the tables in the Welcome Center to make your donation. The cost of a poinsettia is $15.
