Next Sunday is Mother's Day

Next Sunday is Mother

NEXT SUNDAY IS MOTHER’S DAY. For most churches, it is the second highest attendance day of the year. The highest, of course, is Easter. I said “for most churches” because it has not historically been the second highest attendance day of the year at Westside. Our second highest attendance day has been Super Sunday. However, it would be alright with me if Mother’s Day attendance exceeded Super Sunday attendance in 2018. And it can!

WHAT IF EVERY MOTHER invited their children to go to church with them on Mother’s Day? I know that everyone can’t do that, but many can. I’m not suggesting that you invite your children who are actively involved in another Bible-believing church. I am suggesting that you invite you children who are not attending any church or who are attending a church that does not faithfully teach the Bible. When they ask, “What do you want for Mother’s Day?” you can say, “I want you to sit by me on Sunday morning at our worship service.”

WHAT IF EVERY CHILD invited their mother to go to church with them on Mother’s Day? Again, I know that everyone can’t do that, but many can. And, I’m not suggesting that you invite your mother who is actively attending another Bible-believing church. However, if your mother doesn’t know the Lord or has fallen away from the Lord and His church, give her an invitation to worship with you next Sunday. Better yet, get her grandchildren to invite her! Above all, don’t ask her to fix Sunday lunch for you. That gives her an excuse to stay home. Volunteer to fix lunch for her or take her to lunch!

WE WILL HAVE A SMALL GIFT for every mom who attends next Sunday. It will be our way of saying to every mom, “We love you and thank God for you!” Pray with me that Mother’s Day will be a Super Sunday at Westside.
