The familiar phrase, “All gave some, but some gave all” reminds us of our fallen heroes. My dad’s friend in the United States Marine Corp was a young man named Carl. Carl died while serving his country during World War II. My parents remembered him by naming their second son Carl Keith Russell.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND means it’s time for our annual Beach Baptism service. The Beach Baptism will take place this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Neptune Beach. Baptism is a public profession of faith. It hardly gets more public than getting baptized at the beach on a holiday weekend! At the time of this writing, there are seven people who desire to baptized at the beach today. If you would like to be included, it is not too late. You need to attend the Baptism Class that will be taught at 3 p.m. at the beach. I look forward to seeing many of you at the beach!
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND is the unofficial beginning of summer. Many schools are already out. Many offices will be closed tomorrow. It’s going to be a great summer at Westside! In June we will have Graduating Senior Day, Father’s Day, Vacation Bible School, and much more. In July we will celebrate God & Country Day, Family Week, and Summer Camps. In August we will be encouraging everyone to ReConnect to Connection Group.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND is often the beginning of the dreaded Summer Slump. Here’s an idea: instead of having a Summer Slump, let’s have a Summer Jump at Westside! Let’s have a jump in attendance, giving, baptisms, etc. It can happen if each of us will commit to being faithful to our Lord and His church this summer
